{"id":2690,"date":"2019-11-11T12:15:41","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T18:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/blog\/?p=2690"},"modified":"2019-11-11T12:19:52","modified_gmt":"2019-11-11T18:19:52","slug":"article-performance-review-useless-procedure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/blog\/2019\/11\/11\/article-performance-review-useless-procedure\/","title":{"rendered":"(Article) \u201cPerformance Review: Useless Procedure?\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rob Wilson, President of Employco USA, recently had an article featured in the November issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/inbusinessphx.com\/how-to\/performance-review-useless-procedure#.XcmYpjNKhhE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inBusiness magazine:<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #1a3861;\">Performance Review: Useless Procedure?<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>The shift now is away from an annual review<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Evidence from a recent survey by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gallup.com\/workplace\/249332\/harm-good-truth-performance-reviews.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gallup<\/a>\u00a0and others has found that two-thirds of organizations feel their performance reviews are not effective. Described as \u201csubjective and highly ambiguous,\u201d performance reviews can be a very impactful tool when used appropriately, but, as this research shows, most companies say they are falling short of the mark.<\/p>\n<p>As a response, some employers are eliminating the annual performance review. However, we don\u2019t see that as a good solution for the vast majority of companies. Without an annual review \u2014 even if it\u2019s just a compilation of more frequent ones \u2014 it\u2019s very difficult for employers to work on merit pay increases.<\/p>\n<p>So, there is a purpose to be served.
