The amended law requires pay and benefits disclosures, prohibits wage history inquiries, and expands employee protections regarding compensation discussions. The amended law takes effect on June 30, 2024, and applies to all nongovernmental employers with at least one employee in the District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#a41919\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Read more<\/mark><\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/PDFs\/March2024_Legal-Update-District-of-Columbia.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">District of Columbia Legal Update<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/PDFs\/March2024_Legal-Update-District-of-Columbia.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/images\/newsletter\/HR\/Blog\/March2024_Legal-Update-District-of-Columbia-PDF.jpg\" alt=\"District of Columbia Legal Update \"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-default\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Illinois Employers with 100+ Employees Must File Pay Data by March 23<\/strong> &#8211; Under the Illinois Equal Pay Act (IEPA), certain private employers with 100 or more employees in the state must apply for an <a href=\"https:\/\/labor.illinois.gov\/laws-rules\/conmed\/eprc-faqs.html#:~:text=Illinois%20law%20requires%20private%20businesses,and%20to%20recertify%20every%20two\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equal Pay Registration Certificate<\/a> (EPRC) from the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) by March 23, 2024 (or, for those that did not become authorized to transact business in Illinois until after March 23, 2021, within three years after commencing operations). The IEPA also requires recertification every two years after the initial certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#a41919\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Read more<\/mark><\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/PDFs\/March2024_Legal-Update-Illinois.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Illinois Legal Update<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/PDFs\/March2024_Legal-Update-Illinois.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.employco.com\/images\/newsletter\/HR\/Blog\/March2024_Legal-Update-Illinois-PDF.jpg\" alt=\"Illinois Legal Update\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NYC Requires Employers to Provide Notice of Workers\u2019 Rights<\/strong> &#8211; New York City (NYC) has enacted a new law, <a href=\"https:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/LegislationDetail.aspx?GUID=6CFBB7F1-1D5A-474B-878A-37484592207F&amp;ID=5725252\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Local Law 161<\/a>, that requires every employer in the city to post and provide each of their employees with a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/dca\/workers\/workersrights\/know-your-worker-rights.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Workers\u2019 Bill of Rights<\/a>\u201d by July 1, 2024. Thereafter, employers must provide each new employee with the bill of rights on or before the employee\u2019s first day of work.
