More specifically, the president\u2019s plan would provide up to 12 weeks of leave for eligible workers to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Care for and bond with a new child;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Care for a seriously ill loved one;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heal from their own serious illness;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address circumstances arising from a loved one\u2019s military deployment; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find safety from domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking (\u201csafe leave\u201d).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the program would provide up to three days to grieve the death of a loved one. The proposed program would include robust administrative funding and use an inclusive family definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Paid Sick Leave<\/strong> &#8211; The budget additionally states that the president \u201ccontinues to call on Congress\u201d to require employers to provide all workers with seven job-protected paid sick days each year and ensure that employers cannot penalize workers for taking time off to address their or their families health needs or for safe leave. The budget proposal would have to be passed by Congress to become law.
