However, certain qualifying events (e.g., marriage, divorce, birth of a child, etc.) may allow employees to enroll in coverage, make changes to their existing elections, or cancel coverage during the plan year. In most cases, employees must notify their employer and complete the required enrollment forms within 30 days of the qualifying event.
