Question: Are employers required to include a pay range in job ads?

Answer: It depends on the state and the size of the company. Although there is no federal law, over a quarter of the states (partial list includes California, Illinois, and New York) have pay transparency laws that require employers to include a pay range in their job postings. Several of those states also require employers to include a description of the benefit plans.
