California Updates Paid Sick Leave FAQs and Employee Notices – In advance of changes to the state paid sick leave requirement taking effect Jan. 1, 2024, the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) has updated its answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about paid sick leave, as well as the paid sick leave poster and employee notice.

Chicago Delays Start of New Paid Leave Law Until July 2024 – On Dec. 13, 2023, the Chicago City Council voted to delay the implementation of the city’s new paid leave and paid sick and safe leave ordinance from Jan. 1, 2024, to July 1, 2024. The council also amended the ordinance in other ways, some of which are helpful to employers. The city’s existing paid sick leave ordinance will remain in effect until the new one takes effect in July.

Minnesota Adds New FAQs for Earned Sick and Safe Time – The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry has published new answers to its set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) for the state’s earned sick and safe time law (ESST), a new paid leave mandate that takes effect Jan. 1, 2024.

New York Issues Paid Family Leave Employer Materials for 2024 – New York State has published updated 2024 resources for employers to use in communicating information about paid family leave to their employees.
